A Fairy Tale Wedding – Bipasha Basu
Bipasha Basu’s marriage to Karan Singh Grover on the 30th of April, the reception thereafter was attended by the who’s who of Bollywood. While the wedding itself was a fairly intimate affair that was attended apparently only by close friends and family of the bride and bridegroom, the reception was a lavish ceremony held at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, that was graced by some of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
The Mehendi ceremony on the 29th was a rose hue-themed affair held at the Villa69 in Juhu. Bipasha as expected, matched the theme of the ceremony in a rose print Anushree Reddy lehenga with a pink underskirt, zari border and colorful floral prints topped off with a floral halo and pearly pink nails, traditional haath phool and baju bandh. The lehenga had a netted pink covering over it, that added to the charm of the whole outfit. Most of the Bipasha’s Bollywood friends who graced the occasion including close friends Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Shamita Shetty, Sophie Choudry, Anusha Dandekar, model Candice Pinto and designer Rocky S were all dressed to match the theme. Bipasha wore a sequined blouse along with her lehenga, that resulted in a totally glam wedding style.
For the wedding ceremony which was a private affair, Bipasha chose to wear a typical Bengali ensemble – a blood-red Sabyasachi lehenga-sari with gold and zari work. Both the blouse and lehenga itself were filled with palatial gold embroidery. The dupatta made from a lighter material was also covered in circular gold work. She accessorized the look with red bangles, a heavy choker necklace, jhumkas, a maang-tikka and nathni that elevated the whole outfit to a new level of elegance.
Bipasha took her style up a notch for the star-studded wedding reception. She changed into another Sabyasachi creation – a stunning off-white and gold pseudo gown, which was really a lehenga with the dupatta stitched over the lehenga, doubling up as a sash. Decked up with heavy gold embellishments on the top with the bottom being a beige skirt with small gold circles, the whole outfit stood out as an ethnic masterpiece. She accessorized the look with heavy neck jewellery that added to the outfit’s regal charisma. Among the Bollywood bigwigs who attended the occasion were Amitabh Bachchan together with Abhishek and Aishwarya, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, Dino Morea, Malaika Arora Khan, Neha Dhupia, Sophie Choudry, Tabu, Preity Zinta and Riteish, Genelia Deshmukh.
