About the Festival –
The festival is celebrated in North India by married women where they observe a fast for the long life of their husbands and ends by offering prayers and worshiping the moon at night.
Women dress in fine traditional clothing, jewelry, apply henna. Married women wear hues of red or orange as they are considered auspicious colors in Indian tradition. High end pre Karva Chauth parties are in vogue that includes music, dance and game cards, karaoke, quizzes etc.
Though Karva Chauth is a fast kept by married women for the long lives of their husband, many couples in love also follows this tradition.
