Top 5 Best Dressed – IIFA, 2016
Bollywood’s biggest award ceremony to commemorate the best in the industry over the last year – IFFA,2016, took place in Madrid, Spain this year. This year’s ceremony like all the ones so far was a star-studded affair. The hosts, Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar seemed to be liked by most, for their humor and general banter. The event saw a lot of exceptionally well-dressed celebrities as well as a few who were unusually off the mark. We take you through the five best-dressed celebrities who really looked like a million bucks.
Bollywood’s biggest export to Hollywood so far, with her own show Quantico and upcoming movie Baywatch, a revival of the hit 90s series of the same name, nailed the nonchalant style she was going for, in this Elsa Schiaparelli gown. Styled by Cristina Ehrlich, she looked ethereal in her flowy chiffon gown that had a ritzy romanesque neckline, choosing to pair it with some time-honored Cartier jewellery. To top it all off, Priyanka also bagged the Best Supporting Actress for the movie Bajirao Mastani as well as the Woman of the year honor.
Deepika Padukone was an absolute sensation at the IIFAs this year, doling out one spectacular style after the other at every event. But the highlight among all the styles donned by this beauty was her in this dreamy, cream Sabyasachi gown (which was apparently inspired by Spanish bullfighters) paired with a Godet skirt and cape. Deepika managed to pull-off with ease, the cape style that both Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan failed at, at Cannes, earlier this year. Judging by the response this style got from fans, fashion critics, and others, this will be one of the finest of Deepika’s styles ever.
Shilpa Shetty is not a new face in Bollywood, but her lustrous look in the gown was one of the most pleasant surprises at this year’s IFFA ceremony. Having been a style icon for quite some time now, she looked an absolute vision to behold in this gorgeous Grecian column gown by Shantanu & Nikhil. She did get a few negatives from the critics though for her hairstyle, which was stamped a “passe” style. The cut-work on the gown, however, brought her figure and curves to the fore.
Bipasha looked her elegant best this year, in a regal cobalt blue Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla ruffled gown with a risque neckline that perfectly complemented husband Karan Singh Grover’s black tuxedo. Bipasha who has been on a sartorial high ever since her wedding paired the amazing gown with baubles from Aurelle by Leshna Shah.
Aditi Rao Hydari
Southern sensation Aditi Rao Hydari, who has made her presence felt in the industry with her fantastic sense of style and fashion prowess looked her charming best at the show this year. Dressed in a shimmering green Shantanu & Nikhil gown with a sweetheart neckline and a billowing skirt, Aditi looked like a Grecian goddess in her Outhouse headband and temple jewellery.
